Fotona 4D laser treatment uses a sequence of four modes, each working on a different layer of the skin from a different angle.
The order matters, and so does the calibration of each mode to your skin.
This mode is applied through the inside of the mouth. The Er:YAG wavelength delivers controlled warmth to the tissue beneath the perioral area, which can support firmness aroundthe lower face from the inside out.
A fractional Nd:YAG pass that targets the deeper layers of the skin in small, discrete points rather than across the whole surface. It is used to address uneven texture, pigmentation and the kind of subtle structural irregularity that shows up in close light.
A long, even delivery of Nd:YAG energy that warms the deeper tissue gradually rather than in pulses. This bulk-heating phase is what supports skin firmness and collagen activity in the lower layers. It is the slowest of the four modes.
A light Er:YAG passes across the surface of the skin. It refines texture, supports the appearance of pore size and finishes the sequence by working on the layer the mirror sees first.

A Fotona 4D session takes around 30-45 minutes. The SmoothLiftin phase is applied through the inside of the mouth and the others across the face. Most clients describe the sensation as warm, with a brief snap during the fractional pass. The PIANO mode is generally the most comfortable phase.
Mild redness is normal and usually settles within a few hours. Downtime is minimal. Most clients return to work the same day or the next morning. The visible change builds gradually over the following weeks as the deeper layers respond.
